Ball rebound resilience measures how high a ball bounces back after impacting the surface. To determine this, a football is dropped vertically onto the surface from a specified height and the rebound height is measured.
Why it is important
- a surface that is too hard causes the ball to bounce unnaturally high
- a surface that is too soft “swallows” the ball
- the goal is behavior that matches high-quality natural grass as closely as possible
Testing and influences
The measurement is part of the tests according to DIN 18035-7 and the FIFA Quality Programme, together with ball roll behavior. The value is primarily influenced by infill, the elastic layer, and compaction. Regular deep cleaning helps to keep the values stable over the years.
