TOP GREEN Artificial Grass ProfessionalArtificial Grass Glossary

Weed Control Fabric

Technical term from the TOP GREEN Artificial Grass Glossary – clearly explained based on over 25 years of experience.

Briefly explained

A weed control fabric is laid under the artificial turf and prevents weeds from growing through from below. At the same time, it remains water-permeable.

A weed control fabric (geotextile) is a water-permeable non-woven membrane that is laid between the sub-base and the artificial turf.

Functions of the Fabric

  • Prevents weeds from growing through from the ground
  • Separates the base layer from the artificial turf
  • Allows rainwater to pass through, thus supporting drainage

Important to Know

Seeds blown in from above can still settle in the infill. Regular blowing and artificial turf cleaning prevent this.
