TOP GREEN Artificial Grass ProfessionalArtificial Grass Glossary

Snow and Frost

Technical term from the TOP GREEN Artificial Grass Glossary – clearly explained based on over 25 years of experience.

Briefly explained

Artificial turf is frost-resistant and gets through winter without any problems. Snow can be left to melt on its own; avoid de-icing salt and hard shovels.

High-quality artificial turf is designed for outdoor use and can withstand snow and frost. Because water drains through the surface and the substructure, good drainage prevents frost damage.

Winter Tips

  • Let snow thaw naturally
  • if necessary, clear it only with a plastic shovel and leave a thin layer in place
  • avoid using de-icing salt
  • frozen blades are more brittle – avoid heavy use until they have thawed

After Winter

In spring, remove leaves and dirt and brush up the blades. A thorough spring cleaning will bring your lawn back into shape – see Cleaning Artificial Turf.
