TOP GREEN Artificial Grass ProfessionalArtificial Grass Glossary

All-weather sports pitch

Technical term from the TOP GREEN Artificial Grass Glossary – clearly explained based on over 25 years of experience.

Briefly explained

An all-weather pitch is a sports or play surface with a weather-resistant covering—usually plastic or artificial turf—that remains playable even in the rain.

An all-weather sports pitch is a sports surface that, unlike natural grass or cinder pitches, can also be used in wet weather. Typical surfaces include plastic (e.g., polyurethane with granulate) or artificial turf.

Typical areas of use

  • School playgrounds and school sports facilities
  • Kickabout and multi-sport pitches
  • Tennis and basketball courts

Maintenance

All-weather pitches are robust, but leaves, sand and abrasion settle in the pores. Regular cleaning maintains grip and water permeability – learn more under plastic floor cleaning.
