TOP GREEN Artificial Grass ProfessionalArtificial Grass Glossary

Acclimatization

Technical term from the TOP GREEN Artificial Grass Glossary – clearly explained based on over 25 years of experience.

Briefly explained

Acclimatization means allowing the artificial grass to rest unrolled before cutting so that the material relaxes and roll creases disappear.

Artificial grass is delivered tightly rolled. This creates tension in the backing fabric and visible roll creases. During acclimatization, the strips are unrolled before cutting and left to sit for a few hours—ideally in the sun.

Why it is important

  • Roll creases and waves smooth out
  • the material adapts to the ambient temperature and can be cut to size accurately
  • Seams can be joined more cleanly

Practical Tip

Once unrolled, brush the blades against the grain and check the laying direction of all strips. Find out more in our installation guide.
