TOP GREEN Artificial Grass ProfessionalArtificial Grass Glossary

Stitch Density

Technical term from the TOP GREEN Artificial Grass Glossary – clearly explained based on over 25 years of experience.

Briefly explained

Stitch density indicates how many tufts of yarn per square meter are tufted into the backing fabric. It is an important quality indicator.

The stitch density (also called pile or tuft density) describes the number of tufted yarn bundles per square meter. Typical values for garden turf range roughly between 10,000 and over 20,000 stitches per m².

What a High Stitch Density Provides

  • a denser, more natural appearance
  • better support for the blades
  • higher durability

Stitch density should always be considered together with pile height, yarn thickness (Dtex), and blade weight. You can find a direct comparison of our products in our product comparison.
