TOP GREEN Artificial Grass ProfessionalArtificial Grass Glossary

Fiber shape

Technical term from the TOP GREEN Artificial Grass Glossary – clearly explained based on over 25 years of experience.

Briefly explained

The fiber shape describes the cross-section of an artificial grass blade. It affects appearance, softness, light reflection, and durability.

The fiber shape (also called blade shape or profile) is the cross-section of a single artificial grass blade. Manufacturers develop different profiles for this purpose – such as flat, oval, with a center rib, or in wave and diamond shapes.

Why shape matters

  • Appearance: Matte, textured profiles reflect less light and look more natural.
  • Durability: Reinforced profiles spring back up better after being stepped on.
  • Feel: The shape affects how soft the grass feels underfoot.

Our Royal Grass® artificial turf combines different blade profiles with thatch to achieve the most natural look possible. The best way to compare the products is in person at our show garden.
