In hybrid turf, real grasses grow together with synthetic fibers. The fibers are either sewn deep into the turf base layer or are anchored in a mat or the substrate. The roots of the grasses anchor themselves to the fibers – this stabilizes the turf.
Advantages and Limitations
- significantly more resilient and shear-resistant than pure natural grass
- playing feel and temperature like natural grass
- however: mowing, watering, fertilizing, and light remain necessary
Where Hybrid Turf is Used
Hybrid turf is primarily found in professional stadiums and on heavily used training grounds. For private gardens, it is rarely practical due to the effort and cost – here, either natural grass or artificial turf is the more practical choice. Our guide Advantages and Disadvantages of Artificial Turf offers decision-making assistance.
