Artificial grass is manufactured on large rolls. The roll width is determined by the tufting machine and is fixed depending on the product. Common widths are 2 and 4 metres.
Why roll width matters
- It determines how many strips and seams are needed.
- Wider rolls mean fewer seams, but are harder to transport.
- The shape of the area determines which width produces less waste.
Practical tip
Plan the strips so that seams do not run across the main viewing angle. Our guide How to secure artificial grass explains how seams are joined invisibly. See also Sold by the metre.
