It consists of crushed stone with graded grain sizes, for example 0\/32 mm, which interlocks well when compacted. <\/p>\n<h2>Construction<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Thickness in gardens usually about 5\u20138 cm, more for poor soil<\/li>\n<li>Layer-by-layer compaction with a <a href=\"https:\/\/topgreen.de\/en\/lexikon\/plate-compactor\/\">vibratory plate compactor<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Followed by a leveling layer of <a href=\"https:\/\/topgreen.de\/en\/lexikon\/crushed-sand\/\">crushed sand<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/topgreen.de\/en\/lexikon\/premium-chippings\/\">fine crushed aggregate<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Why it is so important<\/h2>\n<p>A base layer that is too thin or poorly compacted leads to dents, waves, and waterlogging. At the same time, the gravel provides <a href=\"https:\/\/topgreen.de\/en\/lexikon\/drainage\/\">drainage<\/a>.
